In Tabriz since 2006/07

We bring heat-treatment services, and the supply of tool steels and engineering alloys, to the region's industry. We see metallurgical advice as an inseparable part of our work, and we record the inspection results of every job for traceability.

Company introduction video: our vacuum and controlled-atmosphere furnaces at work. A large die is loaded into a vacuum furnace, charts show the temperature and pressure of a heat-treatment cycle, the furnace is opened and the die shown close up, and a basket of parts goes into a controlled-atmosphere furnace as flames leap from its door. The on-screen text is in Persian.

About us

Our services

One of our vacuum furnaces

Vacuum heat treatment

Hardening and tempering of tool steels and dies, and solution treatment and ageing of nickel superalloys.

Parts covered in frost after sub-zero treatment

Sub-zero treatment

Transforming retained austenite into martensite, for more uniform hardness and dimensional stability.

Laboratory bench with hardness testers and a microscope

Laboratory and testing

Hardness testing, metallography and case-depth measurement, also as a stand-alone service.

Shot blasting, technical consulting and steel and alloy supply are on our services page.

Projects

A large cylinder-head die in front of the open vacuum furnace

1.2344 cylinder-head die

Material
1.2344
Specified hardness
42–44 HRC
Thickness
400 mm
Weight
395 kg
Process
Vacuum hardening and tempering with a nitrogen quench
Process notes
  1. Preheating and stepped heating to 1030 °C, so the whole die austenitizes evenly.
  2. Slowing the heating rate at two points, so the surface and core temperatures can even out without unwanted thermal stress.
  3. Quenching in nitrogen gas at a controlled pressure, for the right cooling rate.
  4. Three tempers, tracked with contact thermocouples, to reduce residual stress and stabilize the mechanical properties.
A large straight-cut gear on a furnace basket

500 kg 16MnCr5 gear

Material
16MnCr5 (1.7131)
Specified hardness
56–60 HRC
Thickness
250 mm
Weight
500 kg
Effective case depth
2.5 mm
Process
Carburizing and hardening
Process notes

The gear's large section, and the temperature difference between its surface and core during heating and quenching, make its heat treatment very sensitive. Cracks are far more likely to start and grow in a part like this than in an automotive gearbox gear.

So the temperature was raised in steps, at 450 °C, 800 °C and 860 °C, and finally to 920 °C. The oil temperature and quench time were chosen with care, and after hardening the gear was tempered twice.
